Tony Romo mocked for pointing out the obvious on CBS broadcast of Bills-Broncos playoff game image

All in all, Tony Romo had a better broadcast this week as the CBS color commentator on the Bills-Broncos playoff game on Saturday.

There was one moment, though, that caught plenty of mockery.

It came with just more than a minute left in the fourth quarter. The Broncos had the ball, trailing 27-23.

Romo had this to say: "This is four-down territory here."

There was one point during that drive that Denver had all three of its timeouts, so technically, they had a path to get the ball back even if they handed it back to Buffalo. But that clearly wasn't going to happen.

There's a case for saying more obvious things in the playoffs on the assumption that there are more casual fans watching the games.

But still, this was about as obvious as could be.

Romo will still have all ears tuned in when he calls the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, Jan. 25, in what will be the last NFL broadcast on CBS until the 2026 season.
