The Denver Broncos, with their win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas night, and the Los Angeles Chargers' loss to the Houston Texans a few days later, clinched the AFC West title.

It's a momentous occasion, and it was a great first step for the Broncos this season as they aim for a Super Bowl appearance. A first-round bye is next on the wish list, and they'll face the Chargers with those hopes in mind in Week 18.

But right now, Sean Payton isn't happy. Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated shared why, in that Payton is very much not a fan of the Broncos' AFC West title gear, as he called them "pretty ugly."

When asked about how the Broncos handed out their AFC West title gear, since they clinched the division while sitting at home, Payton's response was telling about his real thoughts on the new gear.

"I said put them in the lockers," Payton said, "I haven't seen the hats or the shirts, but my understanding is they're pretty ugly."

The fact that Payton hasn't even seen the gear commemorating their AFC West title, and is calling them "pretty ugly," means that he's not heard good things from those with the Broncos.

Whether it's players, staffers, coaches, or other individuals, the new Broncos gear is not getting a warm reception from Payton and the Broncos.

On the Denver Broncos shop, the shirt given out to every division winner has the writing: "BEEN THERE, WON THAT," etched on the front of the shirt. The Broncos logo is also smaller than the font, and the AFC West title commemoration is even smaller.

The hat is a gray and black one with "Division Champions" on the front, and a small Broncos logo inside a box with a colorless Broncos logo.

These two pieces of AFC West gear are the same style as the rest of the NFL got for their respective division titles. It's far from the best gear that's been released honoring a division title winner, but the reaction from Payton says volumes.

If he's willing to parrot what those around him have said about the gear without seeing it himself, calling it "pretty ugly," then the shirts and gear must not look great to many different people.
