NFL Power Rankings: Have the Denver Broncos done enough to claim the top spot? image

The Denver Broncos are cruising through the 2025 NFL season. Winners of their last eight games, the Broncos have claimed the No. 1 spot in the AFC following a massive win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

If things stay that way through the end of the season and the Broncos get home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, Empower Field will be a very difficult place to come in and get a win.

But how do things shake out in the weekly power rankings? Did the Broncos' beating the desperate-for-a-win Chiefs do enough to put them at the top of the mountain? No, but they are close.

Vinnie Iyer of AllSportsPeople put out his latest rankings and the Broncos check in at No. 3, up five spots from last week. They are his top team in the AFC with only the Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams ranking higher.

"The Broncos got their biggest win since 2015, when they were the last AFC West team to win the division that wasn't the Chiefs, who they just beat. That year also was marked by dominant defense and an offense grinding to victory when needed like this team. That team also won Super Bowl 50", wrote Iyer.

The Broncos have a mostly favorable remaining schedule and with a well-timed bye week coming up, they also have a chance to get several key players back before they take the field again in Week 13, including Pat Surtain II and Alex Singleton.

The Broncos' two losses this season are by a combined four points and both came on field goals on the last play of the game. There is a strong feeling that the team has yet to play its best and most complete game, meaning Sean Payton's bunch may not have even hit its stride just yet.
