The refrain has been common most of the season:
NFL fans don't think Al Michaels gets excited enough.
The legendary play-by-play man, now with Amazon Prime Video, got to call a game-winning touchdown with less than two minutes to play on Christmas night when the Denver Broncos' Bo Nix threw to RJ Harvey for a touchdown.
Michaels raised the volume slightly, but not much more.

This is a tricky one on multiple levels.
For one, more is not always better when it comes to play-by-play calls. Some announcers are brilliant at sliding in, then sliding out to let the scene tell the story.
And of course, Michaels is a legend. The 81-year old has announced some of the greatest moments in sports history.
It's also fair to expect that he's lost some of his fastball. It'd be a surprise if he hadn't.
There are a lot of takes like this on X:
Al Michaels is an absolute legend but it’s time to hang it up. Guy is about 3 seconds behind every play and talks with the enthusiasm of a school librarian

Given Michaels' resume, it'll surely be his call what he does after this season. But many fans will be keeping an eye on it, for sure.
