The Denver Broncos are going to be short-handed at running back thanks to the injury to J.K. Dobbins.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Dobbins, who suffered a foot injury in Week 10, is dealing with a significant issue and will be out "for the foreseeable future."

Pelissero and Rapoport add that injured reserve is a possibility for Dobbins.

"Broncos RB JK Dobbins will be out on Sunday vs the Chiefs with a significant foot injury and is believed to be out for the foreseeable future, per me and Tom Pelissero," Rapoport reported on Friday. "Dobbins is still working through options, and while there’s no final determination, IR remains a possibility."

This tracks with what Chris Tomasson of the Denver Gazette reported earlier in the week. Tomasson stated that Dobbins was a candidate for injured reserve.

Of course, if he lands on IR this week, Dobbins will be forced to miss at least the next four games, which would put his earliest possible return in Week 16, although it's fair to wonder if he might be out longer than that.

This just stinks for Dobbins, who was having a great year with 772 rushing yards, which ranked fifth in the NFL.

With Dobbins sidelined, rookie RJ Harvey is going to get all he can handle, and head coach Sean Payton believes Harvey is capable of taking on more.

"Obviously, he’ll have more opportunities here in this game," Payton said during the week. "He’s built, when you see his frame, he’s built to last, and that’s important.”

Along with Harvey, the Broncos also have Tyler Badie and Jaleel McLaughlin on the 53-man roster. They'll serve as backups to Harvey moving forward.
