Jarrett Stidham has been the biggest story in the NFL in the last week, after it was announced that he would be the Broncos' starting QB after Bo Nix suffered a season-ending injury last week.

Statistically, he's not the most ideal QB replacement a team would want to have in a game where a spot in the Super Bowl is on the line.

In fact, on paper, you'd almost rather have any other conference championship team's backup QB over Stidham.

The three backup QBs in the conference championship outside of the Bronocos are Drew Lock (Seahawks), Josh Dobbs (Patriots) and Jimmy Garoppolo (Rams).

Stidham has played in just 20 games in his career, and most of his appearances haven't been starts.

He has a career record of just 1-3-0 despite playing in 20 games.

Here are the totals for games played among the backup QBs:

  • Josh Dobbs - 27 games (3-12-0)
  • Drew Lock - 41 games (10-18-0)
  • Jimmy Garoppolo - 85 games (43-21-0)

The lack of experience might not matter in the end, as Stidham is keeping the Broncos in a tight game with the Patriots in the first half, but it's definitely interesting that out of all the backups from these four teams, Stidham had to step up with by far the least amount of NFL in-game experience.
