The Denver Broncos have built the league's most formidable defense and it is the biggest reason the team is 8-2. But from year to year in the NFL, it's difficult to keep an entire unit together, between free agency and having to navigate the salary cap.

As of right now, John Franklin-Myers, Alex Singleton, Justin Strnad and Ja'Quan McMillian are all set to be unrestricted free agents at season's end. The Broncos will want to keep as much of their defensive core together in 2026 as possible, so trading players away should not be considered unless the return is just too good to be true.

Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report recently selected the most valuable offseason trade piece for each team in the NFL and for the Broncos, he selected cornerback Riley Moss.

"We worked hard to find a more intriguing option here, but there are no obvious high-profile trade candidates on this roster. The only other option is to go wildly bold with Patrick Surtain II, because the point here is that Jahdae Barron, Ja'Quan McMillian and Kris Abrams-Draine give the Broncos an embarrassment of cornerback depth", wrote Gagnon.

If you have an "embarrassment of cornerback depth", why mess with it? It's one of the most important positions in today's game and though many Broncos fans have suggested that Moss hasn't played well, that's just incorrect. Moss has been targeted more than any cornerback in the NFL and of the cornerbacks that have faced a minimum of 40 targets, he's allowed the lowest completion percentage

In truth, Moss couldn't be playing much better than he has played. He has been flagged for defensive pass interference a bit more than the team would like to see, but facing as many targets as he has, that has to be somewhat expected. And as long as he's playing opposite Pat Surtain II, that's not going to change.

The Broncos have a good young group at the cornerback position, and there's no reason to tinker with it. Unless a team offers the Broncos something crazy for Moss, they need to just hold onto him.
