The Denver Broncos are a contending team and they are not far off from being able to be considered one of the elite teams in the league. That should make them buyers prior to this year's trade deadline, scheduled for Tuesday, November 4.
Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports suggests that the Broncos should look for wide receiver help ahead of the deadline, mentioning two names with the New Orleans Saints, Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed. But the team might be looking to make a bigger splash.
The Broncos do have Courtland Sutton, but he's 30 years old and the young players behind him, while exciting, don't look like they'll ever be among the top WR1's in the NFL. If the Broncos are serious about contending with Bo Nix this season and beyond, the front office should be looking for a blockbuster deal, one that gets all of the trade deadline headlines.
Here are some wild ideas, but these are the kinds of deals the team should be looking for.
Broncos trade for Marvin Harrison Jr.
Broncos get: WR Marvin Harrison Jr.
Cardinals get: 2026 first-round pick, 2026 third-round pick, LB Drew Sanders
This is the kind of move that would have people's heads spinning, but it's not that far-fetched.
The Cardinals used the No. 4 overall pick in the 2024 draft to select the son of one of the best wide receivers in NFL history, but if we're honest, it hasn't worked out there, not even close.
Harrison has yet to establish a dependable connection with quarterback Kyler Murray and the Cardinals are having a rough season with him. The Broncos could send them an enticing offer to see if it could lead to something and though this deal is unlikely, the Broncos should be thinking along this wavelength.
In return for Harrison, a player with the ability to be the best wide receiver in football, the Broncos send two premium picks and also toss in failed linebacker Drew Sanders to give the Cardinals a chance to get something out of him.
Broncos obtain Garrett Wilson from the Jets
Broncos get: WR Garrett Wilson
Jets get: 2026 second and third-round picks
Garrett Wilson is probably the best player on the Jets' roster, but the team is 0-7 and needs to think hard about tearing it down and getting what it can for some of its top assets.
The Broncos would probably have to include a first-round choice in place of one of the other picks in this package, but a second and third-round pick is a good starting point.
Wilson has 315 catches already in his career but he's on a sinking ship in New York. He would be an ideal No. 1 wide receiver for Nix for many years to come.
Broncos acquire Jaylen Waddle
Broncos get: WR Jaylen Waddle
Dolphins get: 2026 fourth-round pick
If any team in the league seems ready to have the proverbial "fire sale", it's Miami, where nothing has gone right this season. The Dolphins seemed primed to make some major offseason decisions at head coach and in the front office, so starting that rebuild now makes sense.

Acquiring Jaylen Waddle would be a much cheaper (and more realistic) option than the two mentioned above and the Broncos have an extra fourth-round pick in next year's draft stemming from the Devaughn Vele trade.
