Denver Broncos end incredibly bad streak during 'Monday Night Football' win over Bengals image

The Denver Broncos had gone forever without having a 100-yard rusher. Well, maybe not forever, but they hadn't had one since Sean Payton became the head coach in 2023.

The Broncos had gone 37 straight games without one, the longest active streak in the league. But on Monday night during a rout of the Cincinnati Bengals, J.K. Dobbins went over the 100-yard mark, rushing for 101 on the night. It was part of a dominant 28-3 victory for the Broncos in which they outgained Cincinnati by 353 yards.

The Broncos were able to even their record at 2-2.

The last time the Broncos had a 100-yard rusher prior to Monday night came in the season finale of the 2022 season when Latavius Murray ran for 103 yards against the Los Angeles Chargers. Jerry Rosburg was filling in as the interim head coach following the firing of Hackett at the time.

That was the last game Murray ever played for the Broncos.

Payton likes to use a full committee approach at running back, dating back to his days in New Orleans, so this will likely be a rare occurrence, rather than something that becomes frequent. Still, it's another monkey the Broncos can get off their backs. With any hope, it will be what starts the trend of the Broncos becoming an above-average running team going forward.
