Could Broncos sign Colin Kaepernick? Fan Interest spikes after Bo Nix injury image

The Denver Broncos need a quarterback. Bo Nix fractured his ankle and won't play in the AFC Championship Game.

There are reasons they can't sign Philip Rivers, or Drew Brees. But Colin Kaepernick? He's on the table, and fans are searching for this very possibility on Google on Saturday night, based on trends.

The last official NFL workout for Kaepernick was in 2022 for the Raiders. He also worked out for the Seahawks in 2020.

Kaepernick was once one of the most exciting talents in the NFL, a dual-threat quarterback who led the 49ers to a Super Bowl appearance.

He threw 72 touchdowns in six seasons and ran for another 13, all with the 49ers.

His choice to kneel during the playing of the national anthem as a form of protest made him a controversial figure in the NFL, and it certainly played a role in his chances of sticking in the league.

If Sean Payton was desperate and didn't want to start Jarrett Stidham, there's this option.

Can the Broncos sign Colin Kaepernick?

Yes, the Broncos can sign Colin Kaepernick.

He's officially a free agent.

He turned 38 years old in November, and it's obviously been a while.

But he'd be in play if they wanted to be bold. And he's had playoff success before.

It'd be similar to the Colts signing Philip Rivers late in the season. That didn't quite work out, but everything has to be on the table right now.
