On Sunday, the Los Angeles Chargers defeated the Dallas Cowboys to get one step closer to clinching a playoff berth while staying within striking distance of the AFC West title.

The Denver Broncos' loss helped them even more after they lost their 11-game winning streak to the Jacksonville Jaguars, setting up a potential winner-take-all matchup in Week 18 at Mile-High Stadium. Before the Chargers can focus on that game, they have a huge matchup against the Houston Texans. This team eliminated them from the playoffs last year.

However, the Chargers received unfortunate news about the final two games, which could significantly impact the Week 18 showdown against the Broncos, as they will be without Denzel Perryman.

The league announced on Monday that the linebacker has been suspended for the next two games, citing repeated violations of player safety as the reason for the disciplinary action.

Perryman received a penalty for unnecessary roughness in the second quarter after a helmet-to-helmet hit to the Cowboys' wide receiver, Ryan Flourney, way after he had already made the catch.

Ron Butler, Perryman's agent, has since declared that his client will appeal the suspension; however, the Pro Bowler doesn't have the strongest case for getting the ruling overturned, and if he is not able to participate against the Broncos, it may give Denver the advantage needed to secure the AFC West division title for the first time since 2015, where they went on to win Super Bowl 50.
