Denver Broncos edge rusher Nik Bonitto is set to have a lot more money in his bank account.
According to Bonitto's agency, he and the Broncos have agreed on a four-year, $106 million contract extension, making him the highest-paid defensive player in Broncos history.
The Athletic's Dianna Russini adds that Bonitto's deal can reach up to $120 million and includes $70 million guaranteed. In terms of his total value and annual average, Bonitto now ranks seventh in both categories among edge rushers.
Shortly after news broke, Bonitto took to X to share his reaction:
"Let's go win this f****** (championship) now," Bonitto wrote.
A former second-round pick of the Broncos in 2022, Bonitto had a quiet start to his career with just 1.5 sacks in his rookie campaign.
However, Bonitto has come on very strong the past two years, with the Oklahoma product posting eight sacks in 2023 and a career-high 13.5 sacks in 2024.
Bonitto was slated to hit free agency in 2026 as he entered the final year of his rookie deal, but the Broncos were never going to let that happen.
Overall, this is a strong deal for both sides and could prove to be a steal if Bonitto continues his ascension.
