Broncos complete trio of huge contract extensions with Nik Bonitto record-setting deal image

The Denver Broncos made a big move on the opening day of the 2025 NFL season.

Nik Bonitto is now signed to a long-term contract, the third Broncos star to get a deal this offseason.

Bonitto's is the biggest. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, his contract extension is for four years and $120 million, with $70 million guaranteed.

It's the biggest contract in Broncos history for a non-quarterback.

Bonitto is the third star that Denver has locked up long term this offseason, joining:

  • DT Zach Allen: 4 years and $102 million
  • WR Courtland Sutton: 4 years and $92 million

Bonitto earned it as he comes off his best season in the NFL.

He was initially a second-round draft choice in 2022 out of Oklahoma.

He had just 1.5 sacks in his first season, but began to come on with 8.0 sacks in 2023.

In 2024, Bonitto had 13.5 sacks along with two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery touchdown. He also returned an interception 71 yards for a score and made 48 total tackles.

Bonitto will turn 26 on Sept. 26, his golden birthday, and he'll have plenty in his wallet to help celebrate.

First, it's time to get down to business. He's got the payday, and now he'll try to lead a talented Broncos defense back to the playoffs. Last season, Denver lost in the opening round to Buffalo, and the Broncos will be trying to make a deeper run this time around.

With a bunch of studs signed to long-term contracts, they'll certainly be aiming big.
