The Dallas Cowboys still have a chance. Barely.

The NFL playoff picture has almost entirely passed the Cowboys by after their Sunday Night Football defeat to the Minnesota Vikings

ESPN, as of Monday morning, gives the Cowboys a 1% shot of making it to the playoffs.

There is only one specific scenario that will get Dallas into the postseason, and it would require massive help from the teams playing the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Cowboys only get into the playoffs if they win their three remaining games and  the Eagles lose their three remaining games.

The remaining schedule for the Cowboys looks like this:

  • vs. Chargers
  • at Commanders
  • at Giants

The remaining schedule for the Eagles looks like this:

  • at Commanders
  • at Bills
  • vs. Commanders

Does anyone really think the Cowboys can win all three of those games while the Eagles lose all three of theirs?

If Dallas can get past the Chargers, it could really win out. But the Eagles seem incredibly unlikely to lose to the Commanders twice in three weeks.

So yeah, there's a chance. But the sand in the hourglass has just about run out.
