The Philadelphia Eagles failed to stop the bleeding after losing to the Chicago Bears in Week 13.
As if the loss wasn't bad enough, the Eagles' offensive struggles continued against the Bears and the boo birds were out early and often in Philadelphia — and understandably so, as the Eagles just can't get their act together offensively.
With the loss on Friday, the Eagles have now allowed the Dallas Cowboys to inch closer in the NFC East. Here's a look at the division after Friday.
NFC East standings
1. Philadelphia Eagles (8-4)
2. Dallas Cowboys (6-5-1)
3. Washington Commanders (3-8)
4. New York Giants (2-10)
The Commanders and Giants have yet to play this week, but they are irrelevant when it comes to the division title.
With Philly's loss on Friday, the Cowboys gain a full game on the Eagles this week.
Unless the Eagles tie a game between now and the end of the season, tie-breakers won't come into play and Philly simply has to win more games than Dallas to secure the division.
Philly's magic number sits at four, which means Philly can wrap up the division no matter what the Cowboys do if they win four of their last five contests. Cowboys losses will also help bring that magic number down.
Knowing all that, the Cowboys have to play perfect football the rest of the way if they want even a chance to win the division.
The wild card remains Dallas' best bet to make the playoffs.
