The NFL season is here, and with it come fantasy football start-sit decisions.
There's no time to waste even for the season opener. It's Dallas Cowboys against Philadelphia Eagles on the opening night of the season, Thursday action to raise the curtain on the league's 2025 campaign. And Dak Prescott is in a tricky spot.
Prescott in a lot of ways feels like a starting fantasy quarterback.
But in this matchup, maybe not so fast.
Here's the breakdown:
Should I start or sit Dak Prescott for fantasy in Week 1 vs. the Eagles?
By at least some measures, Dak Prescott actually comes in as a sit for Week 1.
The Sporting News' weekly start-sit column by Vinnie Iyer has Prescott as his No. 20 QB, a sit in standard leagues.
"The Eagles' pass defense can cause some major issues, starting with pressure up front," writes Iyer.
Some have the Eagles projected to be the No. 1 fantasy defense this season. It's not a great matchup for Prescott.
He does have George Pickens added to his weaponry with old reliable CeeDee Lamb, so that raises Prescott's floor.
He's still a clear starter in 2QB leagues or superflex leagues.
But in standard 10- or 12-team leagues, maybe not.
There's a chance you drafted Prescott as your starter and don't have a great backup, in which case you might be stuck starting him.
But in Iyer's column, he's got guys like Justin Fields and Caleb Williams ahead of Prescott, and even two players who might be available on the wire: Michael Penix Jr. and Bryce Young.
Those two young NFC South QBs feel riskier than Prescott, but if you're looking to avoid the Eagles' defense, they might be available.
