Shannon Sharpe calls out Jerry Jones' fear of being overshadowed image

Shannon Sharpe believes Jerry Jones will never bring Troy Aikman into the Dallas Cowboys front office for one simple reason. The owner is afraid of being overshadowed.

During a recent Nightcap episode, Sharpe explained why Aikman is currently helping the Miami Dolphins find their next general manager and head coach while having no role with Dallas.

"Mr Blank doesn’t care about credit," Sharpe said when comparing NFL owners. "Cowboys owner does."

The message was clear. Jones, at 83 years old, refuses to share the spotlight with anyone who might receive praise for turning around the struggling franchise. He wants all the attention.

Troy Aikman confirms Jerry Jones has never called

Aikman recently revealed on a Dallas radio show that the Dolphins reached out to him about their front office search. Jones has never contacted him during any Cowboys personnel decisions despite their shared history of 3 Super Bowl victories.

The situation looks even worse when compared to Matt Ryan, who just left CBS to become president of football operations with the Atlanta Falcons.

Sharpe also noted that Jones recently compared himself to "Trump Venezuela" when discussing team decisions, saying, "He's running Venezuela" to show his total control.

The Cowboys last won the Super Bowl on January 28, 1996, when they defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-17 in Super Bowl XXX. They have not appeared in a Super Bowl or even an NFC Championship game since that date.

Sharpe's take hints that drought will continue as long as Jones fears someone else getting credit for the team's success. The owner's ego remains the biggest obstacle standing between Dallas and another Super Bowl.
