The Dallas Cowboys decided to bench wide receivers George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb for the first series of the Week 11 contest against the Las Vegas Raiders.
After the game head coach Brian Schottenheimer did not offer many details other than to say that there were "some things that were missed" by Lamb and Pickens, according to ESPN's Todd Archer.
"There were some things that were missed, so had a conversation with those guys and that was easy," Schottenheimer explained.
On Tuesday, owner Jerry Jones was asked about the situation during his regular spot on 105.3 The Fan and revealed that the decision stemmed from an "in-house issue" that "had to do with meeting-type discipline" and Lamb and Pickens "had a late problem there."
The conclusion we would draw from that is Pickens and Lamb were late for a team meeting, but we can't say for sure. We will have to wait and see if more details emerge in the days ahead.
What we do know is the decision didn't impact either player one lick.
Pickens went on to lead all Cowboys pass-catchers with nine receptions for 144 yards, and he scored a touchdown. Lamb finished second in receptions (five) and receiving yards (66) while also scoring a touchdown.
Maybe the Cowboys should bench Lamb and Pickens more often.
All jokes aside, the win was huge for the Cowboys, who can ill-afford to drop any games from here on out. They kept pace with the Philadelphia Eagles and are now sitting in the No. 10 spot in the NFC playoff picture.
Now, the Cowboys will look to get a winning streak going in the Week 12 showdown with the Eagles.
