George Pickens is having a career year in his first season with the Dallas Cowboys.
He's already set his career high in touchdowns (6) in just six games with the team. He's the only receiver in the NFL this year to have at least 50 receiving yards per game and 5 touchdowns. He's been a menace in the absence of CeeDee Lamb with 19 catches for 359 yards and 4 touchdowns.
But the elephant in the room looms large: Pickens is in a contract season and will be a free agent after this year.
What will Jerry Jones and the Cowboys do to address his contract situation? On Tuesday afternoon Jones spoke about his new acquisition's future with the team.

When asked by reporters about Pickens' performance and any potential contract extension, Jones raved about the wideout.
"He is doing more than we could've expected," Jones said. "What's really special is he's a real plus to have around the team. He's not only doing it on the field he's doing it as part of the team concept."
Pickens, who has had a temperamental reputation throughout his career, has fit in seamlessly with the Cowboys. Early in the season when he wasn't seeing as many targets, the wideout was still blocking with force and supporting his teammates. It's a great sign for all parties involved.
Jones went on to address potential contract talks and how that could fit into the team's future.
"We knew full well that if things went the way we wanted it to go we'd need to have some room available if we're going to pay a second receiver at that level," Jones said on Tuesday.
That was a big part of Jones's reasoning for trading Micah Parsons. He's argued that Dallas can sign 5-6 players with the money they would've spent on Parsons.
The twist to all of this is that the same agent who represented Parsons, David Mulugheta, also represents Pickens.

Jones will have to put his pride aside and negotiate with Mulugheta directly, a key action he did not do during the Parsons contract talks.
The Cowboys could tag Pickens, extend him, or let him go in the offseason. No matter what happens in the future, he's been one of the best acquisitions for Dallas in recent years.
