When the Dallas Cowboys play their final game of the 2025 campaign, they won't have the services of running back Javonte Williams.

Williams, who was dealing with a shoulder/neck injury, was placed on injured reserve on Saturday, which means he won't suit up in Week 18.

The veteran running back is slated to hit free agency in 2026, which means he might have played his last game with the Cowboys.

Dallas signed Williams to a one-year deal in the offseason and he managed to revive his career, tallying career-highs in rushing yards (1,201), rushing touchdowns (11), and total touchdowns (13).

Williams and the Cowboys have made it clear they'd like to stick together, but at the end of the day, it's going to come down to money.

The Cowboys are slated to be $33 million over the cap in the offseason, so they can hardly afford to spend big money on Williams, who is certainly going to garner a significant pay bump from the $3 million he made in 2025.

Spotrac projects Williams will make $7.4 million annually over a three-year deal, but the veteran rusher has hinted he might be willing to take less to stay in Dallas.

"I don't always want to just follow money, or things like that," Williams revealed, per the Cowboys' official website. "You want to go somewhere where you actually want to succeed and be a part of something that's special. I feel like it's very special here, but I'm just trying to keep making plays right now, and see how it turns out."

If the Cowboys can get Williams for a reasonable price that doesn't prevent them from making improvements elsewhere — and especially on defense — it's very possible he'll still be in Dallas in 2026.
