George Pickens' arrival at the Dallas Cowboys was unexpected. Now, months after the trade, it seems clear the Cowboys are the right team for the wide receiver. The chances of this move being a major success for both Pickens and Dallas are high. For him, it's an opportunity to prove the Pittsburgh Steelers made a mistake by trading him.

All of this depends on one factor: his behavior. Pickens must stay focused both on and off the field. It's not just about his talent. "Unsportsmanlike conduct" could jeopardize everything.

On Wednesday, in his CBS Sports column, former NFL agent Joel Corry discussed the so-called "Steelers wide receiver curse" and highlighted what's at stake for George Pickens.

Corry started off by saying that Pickens has the potential to form the best wide receiver duo the Cowboys have had since CeeDee Lamb was paired with Amari Cooper in 2020 and 2021.

If things go well, Pickens is looking at a big payday.

"If all goes well and Pickens is on his best behavior, he could be in line for a multiyear contract with Dallas or in free agency in excess of $25 million per year," Corry wrote.

What happens if Pickens repeats the same behavior he showed in Pittsburgh? Corry has an answer for that, too.

"An inability by Pickens to learn from his Pittsburgh experience could mean a one-year 'prove-it' deal in 2026," he said.

Pickens is just 24. He has an entire career ahead of him.

Pickens himself appears ready for a fresh start in Dallas.

"Yeah, it's anticipation," he said following Monday's practice. "I'm just waiting, pretty much, to see what the guys do, and to see what we do as a team. ... I've always watched [CeeDee Lamb], I played against him, so now I'm ready to play with him."

There's no better stage than Thursday night's season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles for George Pickens to show he's ready.
