There are many problems with the Dallas Cowboys defense during the 2025 NFL season. They are off to a 1-2-1 start and Dallas is lucky they don't have an 0-4 record.

The Cowboys have given up the most yards per game in the NFL so far this season at 420.5. They give up 297.3 yards per game in the air and 123.3 yards per game on the ground. Dallas has the worst passing defense in the NFL, and they are ranked 19th against the run. A lot of the issues with this defense is scheme and also a lack of personnel. They need help all over the place on the defensive side of the football.

Dallas Cowboys Find Cornerback in Latest Mock Draft

In order for the Cowboys to fix up the worst passing defense in the NFL, they are going to need to draft cornerback help. Dallas has two first round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. In this mock draft, Blake Brockermeyer of CBS Sports has this team selecting 11th and 29th overall. They have the 29th overall pick from the Micah Parsons trade with the Green Bay Packers.

He has this team selecting cornerback Avieon Terrell from the Clemson Tigers with the 29th overall pick in his latest mock draft. Brockermeyer said,

"An experienced corner with elite man-coverage skills, Terrell has excellent recovery speed if beaten off the line. He tracks the ball well at its highest point, flips his hips smoothly and plays with great technique. Young but ready to make an immediate impact."

Terrell is 5'11" and weighs 180 lbs. During the 2025 college football season with Clemson, he has recorded 22 tackles, one sack, and two forced fumbles. He was also productive during his sophomore season, and this has helped his cause in potentially being a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Clemson has many talented defensive players on the roster who will be first round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. If the Cowboys could wind up with one or two talented players from that program to fix the defense, then they could be heading in the right direction.
