The Dallas Cowboys have an unexpected injury to monitor ahead of their Week 12 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
According to Jon Machota of The Athletic, quarterback Dak Prescott is dealing with a hip injury to start the week, which is a surprise because there was no indication that Dak was dealing with an injury following the Week 11 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
The team has not yet practiced, so we don't know if Prescott participated.
However, head coach Brian Schottenheimer revealed that Prescott's injury is "nothing major," so it doesn't look like there's any concern for his status for Week 12.
"He's going to be fine, but we're going to be real smart with the tempo today," Schottenheimer added, per Nick Harris of the Forth Worth Star-Telegram.
Hip injuries can be tricky, so nothing should be taken lightly until Prescott is 100%.
Prescott has not yet missed a game this season and the Cowboys obviously cannot afford to lose him for any length of time given their incredibly thin margin for error.
Sitting at 4-5-1, the Cowboys can't afford to lose more than another game or two if they want to make the playoffs.
Dallas enters Week 12 four games back of the Eagles in the win column in the NFC East, and they are in the No. 10 spot in the NFC playoff picture.
Losing Prescott for any period of time would be the death blow to their already shaky playoff hopes.
According to the New York Times Playoff Simulator, the Cowboys have a 10% chance to make the postseason in 2025.
