The Dallas Cowboys had a disappointing 2025 campaign, finishing with a losing record and missing the playoffs.
However, running back Javonte Williams had a long-awaited breakout season in his debut season with Dallas, rushing for 1,201 yards and 11 touchdowns. Williams also added 137 receiving yards and two touchdowns through the air.
With Williams having a career season this year and set to enter free agency, he will receive a nice payday. Nick Harris of the Star-Telegram predicts Dallas will re-sign Williams to a three-year deal worth $20.5 million.
"After the year he enjoyed in 2025, he should undoubtedly receive a contract richer than the $3 million he made this season," Harris wrote.
During a press conference last Wednesday, Cowboys director of player personnel Stephen Jones said bringing back Williams on a multi-year deal is a major offseason priorty for the franchise.
"We want to bring him back and sign him to a multiple-year deal," Jon Machota of The Athletic said on X.
Williams was one of the best Cowboys running backs in recent history, and re-signing him would be a logical move. Harris' contract projection would pay Williams $6.8 million annually.
Overall, Dallas should retain their impactful players, and Williams fits that description. Re-signing him to a team-friendly contract would be a logical move from the Cowboys.
