Cowboys' mid-season trade took only 51 days to fail completely image

The Dallas Cowboys woke everyone up early on Nov. 4 with news of a trade for linebacker Logan Wilson from the Cincinnati Bengals.

"He can come in immediately and help us at linebacker," owner Jerry Jones said that day.

Well, 51 days later, Wilson was providing no help.

On Christmas Day, Wilson didn't play a single snap in the Cowboys' clash with the Washington Commanders.

So for those keeping score at home, he was deemed unworthy first by the Bengals and now by Dallas.

Wilson cost a 2026 seventh-round pick in the trade, so it wasn't a huge expenditure. Still, the Cowboys surely expected more than a benchwarmer in the deal.

He technically has two years remaining on his contract, but the Cowboys have an out after this season. They'll surely take it.

That trade won't go down in the history books. Wilson has made it very easy to forget about him altogether.
