Before the season, the Dallas Cowboys swung a trade for a former first-round pick.

He didn't last a full season with the Cowboys.

On Saturday, the Cowboys waived cornerback Kaiir Elam, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. It was done to make room for RB Malik Davis to be signed to an active roster contract.

Elam was originally the No. 23 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills out of Florida.

He spent three mostly disappointing seasons with the Bills.

Before this season, the Cowboys swung a trade for Elam for a small draft pick upgrade in the late rounds for Buffalo.

Elam played in 10 games with the Cowboys, seven of those going down officially as starts. He had just a single pass defensed and made 29 tackles.

Dallas had a lot of cornerback injuries at the start of the year, which made the acquisition of Elam a logical one.

But as the Cowboys have gotten healthy, they've chosen to let Elam go.

The Davis signing is a logical move, given that the Cowboys have been promoting him from the practice squad recently. He's been RB2 behind Javonte Williams and ahead of Jaydon Blue.
