The Dallas Cowboys' defense continued to play poorly under Matt Eberflus in the 34-17 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers at AT&T Stadium.
Once again, the unit was a get-well game for the opposing quarterback; they conceded 30+ points and showed little to no resistance as the Chargers scored touchdowns on their first three offensive possessions.
What's more, Herbert simply had all day to throw.
The Cowboys, as has often been the case this season, failed to get any pressure on the quarterback, and Herbert sliced them up as a result.
And for head coach Brian Schottenheimer, it's the case of the same things, different day.
“The pressure on the quarterback, it seems like we talk about this every week,” Schottenheimer said. “It's so important, you have to get the pressure on the quarterback. Herbert's a athletic guy, he's big, he's long, and we lost some rushing discipline. We blitzed some more. They picked it up, but it's certainly not to the level that we want or expect.
"I start with that as the head coach. I know Flus and Whitecotton feel the same way that we have to be better.”

Cowboys waiting for nightmare 2025 to end
It hasn't been the first year Schottenheimer envisioned, and while there were ups, there's also been a lot of downs.
Now, with two games left in the season, against the Washington Commanders and New York Giants, the Cowboys must win both just to get to.500 on the year.
There have been several issues plaguing Dallas this year, most stemming from the defense, and, as Schotty stated, they have to be better defensively.
But if you are saying that at Week 16, you know you have a serious problem.
And as a result, the Cowboys will likely be looking at getting a different coordinator this offseason.
