The Dallas Cowboys' playoff chances looked incredibly slim heading into Week 16, as the team had less than a 1% chance to qualify for the postseason with a 6-7-1 record.

Brian Schottenheimer's squad has lost two consecutive games since a massive Thanksgiving victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 13, falling to the Detroit Lions in Week 14 and the Minnesota Vikings in Week 15.

Dallas will square off against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday at AT&T Stadium, but that game isn't even going to matter anymore.

Can Cowboys still make the playoffs?

The Philadelphia Eagles took care of business and defeated the injury-riddled Washington Commanders on Saturday. With the Eagles securing the victory, they clinched their second consecutive NFC East title and officially eliminated the Cowboys from playoff contention.

Dallas was already out of wild-card talks after the loss to Minnesota last week, so it was win the division or bust heading into the final three weeks.

After tallying three straight 12-5 seasons from 2021 to 2023, the Cowboys have missed the playoffs in back-to-back years. They will now look to finish the season on a high note, starting with Los Angeles and ending with the two road matchups versus the Commanders and the New York Giants.

A lot of questions will need to be answered this offseason in Dallas, as the franchise has won just two playoff games since 2016, the beginning of the Dak Prescott era, and is still in danger of posting a third losing season in six years.
