Dallas Cowboys receiver George Pickens is back.

After back-to-back poor games, Pickens came back with authority against the Los Angeles Chargers, hauling in seven catches for 130 yards and a touchdown to be the leading man on offense.

Unfortunately, not many others came with him as the defense again didn't offer much resistance with Justin Herbert doing as he pleased.

With Pickens a free agent after the season, his future has been a top topic given his form overall in 2025.

And for NFL.com's Eric Edholm, he poses the question of whether Dallas would let Pickens walk this offseason.

"Can the Cowboys afford to let him walk this offseason? His free-agent market will be fascinating to watch if they do, but he’s making a case for being just as important as CeeDee Lamb  in this offense," Edholm wrote.

Pickens not going anywhere in 2026

Given that Pickens' future appears to be up in the air, it doesn't take too much digging to see what the franchise will do.

Everything we have heard coming out of The Star is that the Cowboys will most likely franchise tag George so they can have another year to evaluate him before handing out that big contract.

Given how potent the offense has looked with Pickens on one side and CeeDee Lamb on the other, the Cowboys know they have a Super Bowl-caliber offense.

But their defense needs to improve drastically.

Keeping Pickens next year would allow Dallas to fully overhaul the defense.

Which is likely exactly what it should do.
