Shedeur Sanders' choice of jersey number 12 has a specific reason behind it.
When Sanders showed up in Browns camp, veteran DeAndre Carter had the number 2.
“I’m not trying to buy anything,” Sanders told reporters in the offeseason. “My signing bonus ain’t that high right now.”
The reporters then asked Sanders why he chose 12.
“It was the best available number for me. That’s it," Sanders said.
