The Cleveland browns are entering Week 11 of the NFL season with some major question marks at quarterback. Dillon Gabriel has been starting, but he's struggled, and there's a lot to be desired with his play so far this season.
Fifth-round rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders has yet to get a starting chance in the NFL, let alone a single snap. Both of their statuses for the Browns in the future are still very much in question.
As Judy Battista of NFL.com highlights, the Browns' rookie quarterback duo needs to finish the 2025 season strong; otherwise, Andrew Berry and the front office could acquire a new quarterback.
Why Dillon Gabriel, Shedeur Sanders need to finish 2025 strong
Battista highlighted that the Browns have two first-round picks in 2026, one being their own and the other the Jacksonville Jaguars' selection.
With either or both of those draft picks, the Browns very easily could fall in love with a rookie quarterback and draft them early in the draft.
That decision would be a lot easier if Gabriel and Sanders didn't finish the year strong for Cleveland. Time will tell how they both do, but if Gabriel continues to play this way, and Sanders doesn't get a starting chance, then both QBs will be in a tough spot in 2026.
Gabriel was a third-round pick, while Sanders was a fifth-rounder. Teams burn those draft picks on busts all of the time, and while missing on two quarterbacks in the same draft would be a tough look, it's not impossible.

Based on how Gabriel has played, with 869 passing yards and seven touchdowns and two interceptions in his five starts this season, the Browns have little reason to commit to him as the starter in 2026.
Sanders, on the other hand, is not getting his chance to show if he can start or not. If he doesn't get a chance this season, then his odds of keeping the Browns from drafting a quarterback high are slim.
Whether it's Gabriel turning things around in the second half or Sanders getting his chance to start and showing promise, one of those scenarios needs to happen. Otherwise, as Battista highlighted, the Browns could acquire a new quarterback to start in 2026.
