Shedeur Sanders gets good news on future as Browns starting QB image

The Cleveland Browns are making an immediate shift at the quarterback position and could make another as the season goes on.

After the announcement came out that veteran Joe Flacco would be benched for rookie QB Dillon Gabriel, many were shocked that Shedeur Sanders will continue being the third-string quarterback.

But a recent report indicates that Sanders could be getting his chance under center very soon.

Shedeur Sanders' future with the Browns

NFL insider Ian Rapaport released a report on Saturday detailing Cleveland's plan for its quarterback room.

In the piece he explains why Shedeur Sanders is still the third-string QB. Reportedly, the Browns want the former Colorado Buffaloes star to get in-game experience but with the game strategy planned specifically for his skill set.

"The expectation is that Sanders will play at some point this season when he's ready," Rapaport wrote. "When he does play, it would be with a full week of practice and a game plan built for him."

Rapaported added that one source says "his development happens every day," in regards to Sanders' progress under center.

It's an interesting report that comes before Dillon Gabriel takes his first regular season start in London against the Minnesota Vikings. If the Browns plan to start Sanders this year how long is Gabriel's leash to make mistakes? Flacco only started four games before being demoted.

Cleveland is desperate to find answers as Deshaun Watson recovers from a ruptured Achilles with two rookie quarterbacks on the roster.

Sanders' chance may not come immediately but there looks to be hope on the horizon for the young gunslinger.
