Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders is trying hard to make a strong impression early on in his NFL career.
After falling to the fifth round, Sanders is competing for the QB1 job alongside Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco, and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel.
However, on Tuesday, Sanders was asked a question about his dad, Deion Sanders.
Coach Prime has been dealing with a health issue, and it remains to be seen when he will return to campus. So, naturally, a reporter asked Shedeur about that situation, and the Browns QB didn't get into it too much.
"I don't know what's going on, so I'm here not to talk about pops, I'm here for the quarterback of the Cleveland Browns," Shedeur Sanders said. "I'm focused on learning this playbook and everything...Outside of that, I don't really have no thoughts or opinions on anything outside this game."
Mary Kay Cabot tried it. Slid in a question about Prime’s health, hoping Shedeur would slip. He didn’t even blink. Kept it pro — talked QB growth, being a dawg for his team, and owning that playbook. On Wednesday, Deion Sanders took to X and assured everybody everything will "be okay" while also expressing gratitude for the prayers and good thoughts from everybody.
But as far as Shedeur Sanders is concerned, he is just in Cleveland trying to win the starting QB job and not talking about the situation with his dad.
