Report: Former Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski to interview for NFC East job image

Just two days after being let go by the Cleveland Browns following a 5-12 record in the 2025 season, two-time NFL Coach of the Year award winner (2020, 2023) Kevin Stefanski is making quick moves for another chance at leading a new franchise.

Senior NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that Stefanski is in line to interview for the New York Giants head coaching job on Wednesday.

Who is Kevin Stefanski?

Stefanski, 43, has nearly 20 years of coaching experience in the NFL.

From 2006 to 2019, he served multiple offensive coaching roles with the Minnesota Vikings. He eventually landed the offensive coordinating position for the final two years of his tenure with the Vikings.

Cleveland was Stefanski's first head coaching job in the league, and he led the Browns to their first playoff berth in 18 years in 2020.

He also helped the franchise win its first playoff game in 16 years that season.

In five seasons with the Browns, Stefanski finished with a 44-56 regular-season record and a 1-2 postseason record.

He could be a good, offensive-minded coach who would help further develop quarterback Jaxson Dart.

Giant' recent head coaching history

To begin the decade, the Giants hired Joe Judge for two seasons before firing him following the 2021 season. His tenure was extremely underwhelming, finishing with a 10-33 regular-season record.

New York is looking for their third head coach of the decade after letting go of Brian Daboll following Week 10 of the 2025 season. Daboll led the Giants to a 2-8 record to begin the season.

After a three-year stint with the team, winning the NFL Coach of the Year award in his first season with the Giants (2022), the organization felt that it was the best thing to do for both sides.

Daboll was replaced by Mike Kafka for the remainder of the 2025 season, and the Giants went on to go 2-5 in their final seven games of the campaign.
