Raiders' Pete Carroll shows teams might have been wrong during draft with Shedeur Sanders image

Whether fans believe Shedeur Sanders should be a starting quarterback or not, Sunday in Week 12 should be a very exciting time around the NFL.

Sanders, the son of one of the greatest to ever lace them up in NFL history, will get his first start against the Las Vegas Raiders

Not only will this be an exciting time due to Sanders getting his first start, but he also gets to play against a historic franchise.

The Raiders haven't played the type of football they've been looking for throughout the year, despite hiring Pete Carroll during the offseason.

The team decided to go in a different direction, rather than giving the keys to a rookie, and instead gave Geno Smith a contract to run the offense.

Pete Carroll loved Shedeur Sanders

To say it hasn't gone well would be an understatement, but Carroll had a lot of good to say about Sanders and what he did with Vegas in the pre-draft stages.

“We visited with him, and I talked to him a little extra,” Carroll told reporters, as heard from the team’s YouTube page. “Just trying to understand where he was coming from, realizing he had been under enormous pressure growing up and just naturally with the pops that he had and all that…

“He’s got a really good outlook on the world and how he deals with all the stressors and of the things that comes his way. I really liked him. He’s a piano player, well-versed. I was impressed with the kid.”

There were obviously questions about what Sanders was as a person, more than a player, for whatever reason, during the offseason. It seems very unfair, as Sanders has said all the right things and looks to really be a great teammate in Cleveland.

He'll have an opportunity to show teams why they might have made a mistake in his first start on Sunday.
