NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor sends supportive message to Browns' Myles Garrett image

The Cleveland Browns are entering Week 12 of the NFL season at 2-8. While there's not been much to cheer for this season, Myles Garrett and the defense have been reason to tune in every week.

During his Week 11 performance against the Baltimore Ravens, Garrett secured four sacks, raising his total to 15.0 on the year. He reached 12 sacks in six straight seasons, beating the previous five-season streak from NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor.

Ahead of Garrett's Week 12 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders, Taylor shared a message on Twitter/X for Garrett, congratulating the Browns superstar for breaking his record, and urging him on to continue being dominant.

"Ton of respect for this dude goes about his business..." Taylor shared, "he's been doing it on another level for a long time now... There's only so many who truly after gameplans and keep the other side up @ night. Keep doing your thing, Myles!!!"

Taylor is one of the best defensive players in NFL history, going to 10 Pro Bowls, earning All-Pro honors eight times, while being a two-time Super Bowl champion, three-time Defensive Player of the Year, and MVP in 1986.

Across his 13-year NFL career, Taylor had 142 sacks, including a 20.5 sack season in his MVP year. Taylor's five-season 12-sack streak lasted from 1985 until 1989. During that stretch, Taylor racked up 76 total sacks.

Garrett, during his six-season sack streak, has 87 sacks, with his 2025 total of 15 being just one away from tying his previous career-best.

Through nine seasons, Garrett has 117.5 sacks. He's averaging 13.1 sacks per season, and with seven weeks left in 2025, Garrett could wind up not only breaking his own career high in sacks, but the NFL record of 22.5 set by JJ Watt and Michael Strahan.

Passing Taylor on the all-time sack leaderboards won't happen this season, but with a strong finish to 2025 and another great 2026, he could pass Taylor's 142 sacks and solidify his own Hall of Fame case.

Taylor's message shows how much he loves watching Garrett play. He, just like Browns fans, is hoping Garrett can continue his dominance this season. With a matchup against the Raiders' leaky offensive line, Garrett could further establish himself as one of the greats with a dominant performance in Week 12.
