John Harbaugh to be the next head coach of the New York Giants is a done deal, right?
Well, not so fast.
The reported five-year, $100-million contract offer has not been signed yet.
Is this the chance for Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam to swoop in at the last minute and score Harbaugh away from the Giants with "an offer he can't refuse"? It might sound like a fever dream scenario, but that's exactly what Haslam did to bring Deshaun Watson to Cleveland in what is widely considered the worst trade and contract in NFL history.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported Friday morning, "Talks continue between the Giants and John Harbaugh, and a deal could get done in the coming hours. But Harbaugh has been very methodical about doing due diligence, and nothing is finalized yet."
To quote the movie Dumb and Dumber, "so you're saying there's a chance."

Haslam is a billionaire who doesn't mind throwing his money around to get what he wants. Remember, at first, Watson turned down the Browns and rumored to sign with Atlanta. That was until Cleveland ownership opened up the vault to change Watson's mind with an unprecedented, fully guaranteed $230-million, five-year agreement.
So until everything is officially signed, sealed and delivered for Harbaugh and the Giants, don't write off the Browns from snatching him and shocking the league once again.
