The Cleveland Browns are coming off one of their best games of the season, a 24-10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Shedeur Sanders and the rookies were impressive, but the Browns' defense stole the show.
Cleveland got 10 sacks on Geno Smith, three of which were attributed to Myles Garrett. He's on track to break the sack record and is likely the Defensive Player of the Year favorite through 12 weeks.
But sacking the quarterback isn't the only phase of the game he's dominant at. As Dane Brugler of The Athletic highlights, Garrett's dominance is a lot more than just sacking the quarterback.
How Myles Garret is more than just a sack-getting machine for Browns
"Along with a historic sack season," Brugler notes, "Myles Garrett also ranks 2nd in the NFL with 9 TFLs (excluding sacks) and 3 FFs."
Garrett leads the NFL with 18 sacks through 12 weeks, and he only needs five sacks in his final six games to break the sack record. But he does a lot more than just sack the quarterback.
As Brugler mentions, Garrett generates tackles for loss in the run game. His nine tackles for loss on non-sacks are second in the NFL and are an impressive footnote on his season.
His three forced fumbles are tied for second most in the NFL, and further proof that Garrett isn't just generating lost yardage, he's generating turnovers.
MORE: Browns' Myles Garrett makes NFL history with six-season sack streak
The four-time All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowler is 29 years old and having his best season by far. In his last four games, he has 13 sacks, three forced fumbles, 17 tackles for loss and 17 quarterback hits.
Those four-game numbers would be career seasons for most of the NFL, and Garrett did that in one month. If the Browns were winning more games, Garrett could've been generating MVP buzz based on how dominant he's been.
While his NFL-leading 18 sacks are impressive, Garrett is a lot more than just pressure on the quarterback. His penetration into the backfield generates tackles for loss and turnover opportunities.
No defender has been better than Garrett this season, and his 18 sacks are only scratching the surface of his dominance for Cleveland this season.
