The Cleveland Browns are one of eight NFL teams with a vacancy at head coach.
The team decided to move on from Kevin Stefanski after going 8-26 over the last two seasons. Now, the Browns are looking for a new head coach for the first time in six years.
However, one former Cleveland Brown doesn't think coaches should be lining up for this job. Robert Griffin III, who won a Heisman Trophy at Baylor and spent one season with the Browns, recently blasted the team on social media.
Robert Griffin III says Browns are worst job in NFL
On Thursday, Griffin posted a video on his X account talking about the Browns. The former quarterback and current analyst labeled the post "The Cleveland Browns Head Coaching Vacancy is the worst in the NFL."
Griffin said that not only is it the worst current opening, but the Browns job in 2026 may be "the worst in NFL history."
“One, the quarterback situation is absolutely atrocious. Deshaun Watson is coming off yet another injury, you owe him $46 million, so what are you going to do with him? Dillon Gabriel was your higher draft pick this past season and you got him sitting on the bench behind Shedeur Sanders, who most of the team wants to be the starter," Griffin explained.
As the former quarterback mentioned, the Browns don't have an ideal quarterback situation. The team still owes Deshaun Watson a ton of money, and it's unclear if Shedeur Sanders or Dillon Gabriel can be a franchise guy.
“Two, it is one of the most historically dysfunctional franchises in the league. Kevin Stefanski wanted Watson as his quarterback. He wanted him so badly that he was willing to get rid of Baker Mayfield who is now the franchise quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers," Griffin continued.
The Browns certainly are dysfunctional. The team is now searching for its fifth coach since 2018, and that's even crazier considering Stefanski lasted six seasons.
Finally, Griffin pointed to general manager Andrew Berry as another reason why coaches may not want this job.
“And number three, you are going to have to answer to a GM in Andrew Berry who is now on the hot seat. The Browns have only won eight games in the last two years.”
It will definitely be interesting to see how the Browns move forward. The positives are that the team has two first-round picks in the 2026 draft and boasts an elite defense.
