Falcons add coach from Kevin Stefanski tree, hire Browns OC image

After the Cleveland Browns decided to let go of head coach Kevin Stefanski after six seasons with the team, the two-time NFL Coach of the Year found a new job in quick fashion with the Atlanta Falcons.

Stefanski will take the head coaching job in Atlanta after the Falcons fired Raheem Morris. The franchise decided to flip priorities from having a defensive-minded coach to an offensive-minded one with Stefanski.

Now, it appears that the new leader of the team is coming with a coaching staff that he's already familiar with.

Tommy Rees named as Falcons' new offensive coordinator

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reported that Browns offensive coordinator Tommy Rees will also make the transition from Cleveland to Atlanta and be named the Falcons' new offensive coordinator.

Rees, 33, was hired to Stefanski's staff in 2024 as the tight ends coach/pass game specialist for the Browns before getting promoted to the offensive coordinator role in 2025.

He also has experience coaching in the NCAA, getting different offensive roles in staffs at Northwestern (2015), Notre Dame (2017-2022), and Alabama (2023).

Kevin Stefanski and Tommy Rees will be the coaching combination that will help an offense that is led by a group of young and talented players like quarterback Michael Penix Jr., running back Bijan Robinson, wide receiver Drake London, and tight end Kyle Pitts.

The revamped Atlanta Falcons coaching staff will try to end a drought that has kept the franchise out of the postseason for eight straight seasons.
