Even a month and a half after the fact, there are many who are shocked that Shedeur Sanders suffered his free fall down the NFL Draft board to the fifth round and pick No. 144.
The Cleveland Browns have a chance to be the beneficiary of that slide, of course.
But even with that in mind, a guy that played a bit for the Browns and is much more well-known for his Washington career has a strong take on Sanders.
Robert Griffin III shared this post on X:
When you watch all the clips of Shedeur Sanders, you see why his tape said he was a 1st Round QB. He plays with NFL timing and rhythm, reads with his feet, plays ahead of the defense, has more than enough arm strength and he knows how to layer the ball. 🔥 pic.twitter.com/9tW8IdX0Gs

RG3 has a very fair point. Many of the clips that have come out of Sanders so far are very impressive.
In some ways, it's no surprise from a guy that completed 74% in his final year of college.
But given that Sanders did fall to the fifth round, there was a solid amount of doubt about how good he'll actually be.
There's a long way to go, but Sanders could turn out to be a gem for the Browns found much later than anyone expected. Griffin is certainly on board with Shedeur's potential.
