It didn't take fans long to begin making public cries for Shedeur Sanders to start for the Cleveland Browns. Heck, a lot of people wanted him to be the Week 1 starter. After a 41-17 Week 2 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, there were rumors that the Browns were considering making a quarterback chance, but to the first quarterback they drafted, Dillon Gabriel.
"Earlier this week, Kevin Stefanski and offensive coordinator Tommy Rees spent much of Monday in meetings weighing whether to hand the job to Browns rookie Dillon Gabriel, per league sources," Brad Stainbrook reports.
And while Sanders wouldn't be the first quarterback the Browns called on if and when they do make a change, he is confident that he is one of the 32 best quarterbacks in the NFL.
"I know if you see the quarterback play in the league right now, I know I'm capable of doing better than that," Sanders said via ESPN Cleveland.
Should Cleveland continue to struggle with Joe Flacco, and eventually Dillon Gabriel, it feels like a near guarantee that Sanders will start at least one game this season - it just becomes a matter of what he does when he plays that will decide what his future looks like.
