Browns trade rumor from Adam Schefter slams door shut on potential blockbuster deal image

Myles Garrett is clearly unhappy and that has led many to wonder if the Cleveland Browns might trade him ahead of the deadline on Nov. 4.

Garrett showed clear frustration on the sideline during Sunday's loss to the New England Patriots, which is what re-ignited the speculation. Of course, Garrett requesting a trade wouldn't be the first time he has done so.

However, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, a source says there is "no chance" the Browns trade Garrett this season.

“People have a better chance of winning the lottery," the source added.

The Browns have remained adamant they aren't trading Garrett, even after he made his trade demand during the offseason that was erased when Cleveland inked the superstar edge rusher to a four-year, $160 million deal.

The financial aspect of trading Garrett makes it a difficult move to make in the short term, as dealing him this year would lead to a massive dead cap hit in 2026.

But the Browns would be wise to consider trading Garrett at some point.

After all, he'll be in his 30s by the time the Browns are relevant again and the return Cleveland could get in a trade, which might include a pair of first-round picks, will greatly aid the team's rebuild.

Former NFL agent and CBS Sports analyst Joel Corry sees an avenue where the team could trade Garrett next offseason.

"That's probably more of an offseason consideration when Cleveland could maximize draft choice compensation," Corry said. "I'm assuming Myles Garrett would be more likely to waive his no trade clause for an expected playoff contender.

"He is making $31.5M in 2026. The trade would have to be within the first 15 days of the 2026 league year because that's when a $29.2 million payment is due to exercise a dummy (voiding) 2031 contract year."

So, while a Garrett trade remains highly unlikely in 2025, don't rule out the Browns changing their stance in 2026, especially if Garrett makes another trade request following what will be yet another losing season in Cleveland.
