Browns sign controversial former Steelers wide receiver to one-year deal image

The Cleveland Browns wrapped up their NFL Draft on Saturday, but that doesn't mean they are done adding players. The Browns have reached an agreement with former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Johnson had quite the year in 2024. He was traded from the Steelers to the Carolina Panthers in March, before being dealt to the Baltimore Ravens ahead of the trade deadline. After internal disputes regarding playing time, Johnson was released and briefly signed with the Houston Texans. He now heads to Cleveland, where he will try to earn a roster spot in a thin receiving corps.

Despite the controversy that seems to follow him, Johnson is talented. He was an All-Pro as a rookie as a returner for the Steelers, and made the Pro Bowl in 2021 after catching 107 passes.
