The Cleveland Browns announced that rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders will be the backup on Sunday when they take on the New York Jets, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski.

The head coach was asked if Sanders would be QB2 after being limited in practice all week nursing a back injury, to which Stefanski replied, "he will be the No. 2."

Sanders had initially been questionable to suit up this weekend after missing the Browns' last game with a back injury.

Shedeur Sanders QB2 behind Dillon Gabriel for Sunday

The high-profile fifth-round pick will officially serve as the backup behind fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, with some speculation that Sanders may potentially even see the field.

Gabriel has struggled as Cleveland's starter this season, completing 59.9% of his passes for 702 yards, along with five touchdowns and two interceptions. He's 1-3 in his starts.

If the former Oregon Duck struggles, it's possible he could get pulled in favor of Sanders.

Regardless of whose under center, the Browns offense should look different after head coach Kevin Stefanski relinquished play-calling duties to offensive coordinator Tommy Rees.

Could we see both a new quarterback and play-caller for Cleveland on Sunday?

We'll see if the bye week reset was just what the Browns needed to turn their offense and their season around.
