Browns' Quinshon Judkins gets $11.4 million contract update on NFL cut day image

The Cleveland Browns had a lot of roster movement on Tuesday, just as the rest of the NFL did. It was cutdown day, meaning teams had to get down to 53-man rosters, and that required lots of dismissals from the enlarged preseason rosters.

One player that didn't receive any movement: Quinshon Judkins.

Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot reported Tuesday afternoon that Judkins remains unsigned.

Judkins was the No. 36 overall pick (fourth pick of the second round) in April's NFL Draft out of Ohio State with one of the selections the Browns got from the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Travis Hunter trade. That slot comes with an assigned contract value of $11.389 million.

He was a star running back for national champion Ohio State.

Judkins was charged this offseason with domestic battery. Those charges were recently dropped.

The NFL is still investigating Judkins under its own personal conduct policy.

It appears the Browns don't plan to sign him until that investigation has concluded.

Cleveland's RB depth chart looked stronger with Judkins, but it has the potential to be good enough without him, too.

Jerome Ford is a solid returning talent, and Dylan Sampson was a star in the SEC at Tennessee before being a fourth-round pick by the Browns in April.

Cleveland cut Pierre Strong on Tuesday, but those top-two backs can hold things down in the meantime.

The Browns did let Nick Chubb walk this offseason, and he's expected to start for the Texans in the season's first four weeks with Joe Mixon out injured.

Judkins may end up with the Browns eventually, but the outcome of his story remains uncertain.
