Browns predicted to trade 2 veteran stars and pursue a QB splash before deadline image

The Cleveland Browns are in the midst of a lost season. There's very little way to see this turning around.

That makes them a prime candidate to be sellers at the trade deadline, which will roll around in early November.

Moving veterans earlier can potentially increase the trade return, and so don't be surprised if the Browns are involved soon.

ESPN's Dan Graziano sees two stars as possible move candidates since they're in the final seasons of their contracts: cornerback Greg Newsome and tight end David Njoku.

"Starting the season 0-2 and seemingly already positioning themselves to be a big factor in next year's draft (two first-round picks), the Browns could very easily be dealing away players by early November," Graziano writes. "Cornerback Greg Newsome II and tight end David Njoku are among the veterans in the final years of their contracts who could be of interest to teams looking for help at the deadline."

Graziano also goes on to make an intriguing reference to a quarterback trade: "And a quarterback room that has 40-year-old veteran Joe Flacco and rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders is going to keep being talked about in these types of discussions."

It's not clear whether he's saying they'll move Flacco to make room for the rookies, move one of the rookies to downsize at that level, or pursue someone who becomes available. Conceptually, any and all QB options are on the table for Cleveland until the decades-long woes at the position are finally resolved.

It's definitely safe to expect the Browns to be active in the trade market one way or the other.
