Browns predicted to hire Super Bowl-winning head coach to replace Kevin Stefanski image

The Cleveland Browns will be searching for a new head coach in 2026.

On Monday, the Browns announced the firing of head coach Kevin Stefanski after six seasons, the final two of which saw the Browns miss the postseason.

While it remains to be seen what direction the Browns will go for their new head coach, FanSided's Nick Villano predicts the Browns will hire Mike McCarthy.

"There are rumors that Mike McCarthy is trying to get back into the coaching game, and he makes too much sense for Jimmy Haslem," he said. "To be frank, we don’t think this will work. However, we think this is where the Browns are going to land."

McCarthy would bring a much-needed steady hand to Cleveland thanks to his wealth of experience as a former head coach of the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys.

McCarthy has a history of success, also, as he won a Super Bowl in Green Bay and posted three-straight 12-win seasons in Dallas.

Going with an offensive-minded head coach is a good idea with the Browns likely to have a young quarterback under center in 2026, whether that be Shedeur Sanders or someone they draft.

McCarthy isn't the sexy name some Browns fans want, but we'd agree with Villano that he does make sense considering the circumstances.

Whether or not McCarthy would pan out in Cleveland is anyone's guess, though.
