After a five-sack performance against the New England Patriots on Sunday, Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett slammed his helmet to the turf in a frustrating loss.
Despite his best efforts, New England bested Cleveland 32-13, in another anemic showing from the Browns' offense.
Tough questions are beginning to rise around the Browns, not just about their quarterback situation, but also about their decision to extend Garrett this past offseason.
Daryl Ruiter calls Myles Garrett extension a 'mistake'
92.3 The Fan's Daryl Ruiter had a strong take on the Browns' All-Pro pass rusher as the season continues to take a turn for the worse.
"I think the biggest mistake the Browns made was extending Myles. I think that was a massive mistake on their end. I understand why they did it because you don't want to be the organization that trades a future Hall of Famer," said Ruiter.
"But how competitive are you with Myles? That's why it was a bad decision to extend Myles. They should've traded him."
To Ruiter's point, Cleveland was likely better off trading Garrett when he demanded it early in the offseason.
Even if the Browns can rebuild their team into a playoff contender, it will likely take more than a season or two to make it happen, and at that point, Garrett will be at the end of his prime.
Instead, they could flip him for a haul, similar to what the Dallas Cowboys got for Micah Parsons, and expedite their rebuild with added draft capital and maybe even a young foundational player.
