The Cleveland Browns are heading towards an offseason of change, with Kevin Stefanski out of a job, and potentially a lot of change coming on the offensive side of the ball.
While the defense looks playoff-ready, the offense needs a major overhaul. But not with their rookies, as Quinshon Judkins and Harold Fannin Jr. Have more than proven their worth. The same cannot be said about Shedeur Sanders.
As Sports media exec David Bearman shared on Twitter/x, Sanders, according to ESPN's QBR rating, had an 18.8 on the year, which was far from ideal. That poor number might force the Browns to reconsider whether Sanders should start in 2026 or not.
Browns might need to find Shedeur Sanders' replacement amid brutal stat
"Shedeur Sanders finished with an 18.9 QBR for the season, 5th-worst among 696 QBs with 200+ attempts in a season." Bearman shared. "QBR dates back to 2006. 5th worst single season last 20 years."
Not only is this statistic a brutal one on a league-wide range, but it's the worst mark ever for a Browns quarterback with at least six starts.
To put it in other terms: Sanders just had one of the worst seasons from a quarterback of the last 20 years, and the worst by a Browns quarterback by ESPN's QBR.

His final tally for the year was 1,400 passing yards on 120-of-212 passing (56.6% completion percentage), seven touchdowns, 10 interceptions, and 23 sacks taken for 164 yards lost. As a runner, he ran for 169 yards and a touchdown on 21 attempts.
While there was no guarantee that Sanders would be coming back in 2026 as a starting option, this QBR statistic might be the final straw for Cleveland in finding a new quarterback.
Whether it's a free agent or a draft choice for the second year in a row, the Browns should consider making a change at quarterback, thanks in part to this brutal statistic.
